QM Studios Open Day On Saturday 19th February 2005 we are holding our annual Open Day at the QM Studios, behind the Drill hall, Denne Road, Horsham. Anyone is free to drop in between 10am and 4pm where members of the alliance will be on hand to show you around the facility and explain the work of that the Alliance does in the Horsham District. Please take a look at the Studio and Rehearsal Room pages (click the links to go there). You can also access these from the Resources > Services menu. HDLMA MP3 Directory Created Following several recommendations and some comments made on the Forum that there should be a central database of music for local bands, I have decided to create one. Whether or not this will create problems for our storage / bandwidth quota remains to be seen, so this may only be a temporary facility. The directory can be found in the Features menu.
In the meantime, keep those MP3s coming in - email them to webmaster@hdlma.co.uk When emailing MP3s, please ensure their bitrate is between 128 - 192kbps, so that we can maintain a database of high quality music. ***** 'Flourishing' Gig Scene Revealed - BBC News Online More than 4,500 grass-roots gigs take place every day in England and Wales, one of the widest studies of the live music scene has found. About 1.7 million gigs were staged in pubs, restaurants, clubs and student unions in 2003, according to a survey for the government's Live Music Forum. Read the full story here. ***** New Site Layout I thought it was about time I gave the site a bit of a makeover. The old layout was alright, but was basically a nightmare when it came to updating it. The new layout is more efficient over-all: it makes better use of the space within the browser and is easier to navigate with the addition of drop-down menus at the top of the page. It should also be a bit better with a wider range of screen resolutions. ***** Battle of the Bands 2004 Preparations are now well underway for this years Battle of the Bands event. ***** QM Studios There are now two different types of recording session available at QM Studios. 1) Live Recording: Direct to CD, 4 hours, all inclusive ~ £80 For further details regarding these studio sessions, please contact Graham Ansell on 07813 049666 or by email - Graham@theansells.screaming.net ***** New Forum A new and much improved message board has been created for this website. It is now completely free of adverts and is much more customisable than the old one. The company who were hosting the old one were closing down their forums - the new one is hosted from our own server, so is also much more reliable! The new forum can be used as a shout out for bands searching for musicians or vice versa, a place to advertise equipment for sale, or just a place to talk about anything and everything in general. I will be monitoring it on a daily basis, but it will however remain largely "unmoderated" for the sake of free speach and opinion. In this respect, language may be colourful at times, so if you are easily offended, it might be best to steer clear...or get on there and tell all the young hoodlums to clean up their act - whichever you prefer! ***** No More Rock Asylum There is now confirmation that 'The Rock Asylum' has decided to withdraw the rock nights at Broadbridge Heath - this is due to financial reasons. ***** Welcome to the All New HDLMA Website! Since the very early days of the HDLMA, Steve Ansell has been the guy making the website happen and what a great job he did of it! However, some of you may know that his band Cat on Form, are about to start some extensive touring of various parts of the world early in 2004, so he will no longer be available to provide his webmastering services. That is where I come in to the picture. My name is Ju and I have been appointed the title of HDLMA Webmaster. Rather than try and pick up where Steve left off, I thought it would probably make more sense to create an entirely new look for the website and try to add even more features than before! Anyway, it is my intention to keep this website as regularly updated as I possibly can. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy browsing this site and that the information contained within is either of some interest or of some use to you. Likewise, if there is anything you want to see included on this website, please email it to me and I'll have it on here as quickly as possible ... webmaster@hdlma.co.uk |
