How To Book

Call the Studio Manager on 07813 049666 to book your studio time or email qmstudios@btinternet.com for general enquiries.

The studios are open 7 days a week.  Rehearsal sessions are available daily: 10am-2pm; 2pm-6pm & 6.30pm-10.30pm.  The cost is £30 per 4-hour session.  We have two fully equipped rehearsal rooms.

Studio 1 (plug in and play)

A good size room with heating and fan cooling. Studio 1 is a fully equipped rehearsal room aimed at young or new bands starting out.

Equipment includes:

6-Piece Drum kit with hi-hat, ride and crash cymbals
1 x Trace Elliot bass amp
2 x 4x12 Marshall guitar amps
1 x Peavey keyboard combo
4 x Shure SM58 vocal mics
2 x Technics 1210 turntables (on request)

The vocal PA consists of a 12 channel mixing desk with built in effects running a 2-way monitor mix, with 4 vocal mics. A CD player for playback and a built in boundary mic linked to a mindisc recorder so you can record your rehearsal.
   



Studio 2 (live room/rehearsal space)

A large, comfortable room with heating and fan/air conditioning unit. This room is designed for musicians to develop their own sound and skills with professional equipment. It has a full range Turbosound PA complete with mixing desk and microphones. It also has a 5-piece drum kit, a bass amp and guitar amp.

Recording
 


A full 24 track digital workstation with multicore link from Studio 2 to a soundproofed control room. This is available to hire for producing quality demos. Rates are available for a 4-hour live session or multi tracking on a daily rate. The HDLMA have suitable engineers available if required.

Special rates for Music Tech students are available. Students can use the facility to record live drums etc, commit to disc and mix/edit on their Home or College PC.

How to Hire


1. The studios can be booked by phoning 07813 049666 between 10am and 10pm, 7 days a week.
2. Block bookings may be made for up to 4 weeks at a time (two weeks’ payment in advance on these bookings).
3. Studio session times are: 10am – 2pm; 2pm – 6pm; 6.30pm – 10.30pm (music must cease at 10.30pm, vacate building by 11pm latest).
4. Access to studios is via lock/keycode entry, by arrangement with committee member/keyholder.
5. Parking is available from 6pm Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday; restrictions are in force at all other times.  If parking is required during restricted hours please inform the Studio Manager when booking your session.
6. Payment to be made on the day by cash or cheque (payable to HDLMA) in post box on site.
7. Cancellation fees apply:  £10 will be charged if you cancel your booking less than one day before the session; cancellation on the day will incur the full £30 session fee.  If you can get another band to take your slot then you will not be charged.

Terms & Conditions of Hire

1. Ensure all exit doors are properly closed before amplified music commences
2. Please respect the equipment provided. If you discover a fault or damage, please report it immediately to the Studio Manager on 07813 049666 otherwise you may be charged for equipment repair
3. No equipment is to be transferred between studios without permission from the Studio Manager.
4. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the building
5. No illegal substances may be brought onto the premises
6. The hirer will be responsible for the actions of their guests during the period of hire. Casual visitors (other than picking up/dropping off) are not permitted during the session
7. Do not put food or drink on or near electrical equipment; food to be consumed in the Chill Out room
8. Please leave rooms tidy, switch off all electrical equipment and leave the area quietly, especially at night
9. WARNING: Loud music above 100db can permanently damage your hearing – please use protection. YOU are responsible for taking suitable precautions, not the HDLMA. Foam ear plugs are available on site – see studio manager
